What concerns might occur to us when we comment on blog posts?
– Do I actually have something to say?
– Am I forgetting anything?
– Is my comment making sense?
– What if my spelling or grammar is wrong?
You know the helplessness feeling when you hit Post Comment on blog posts and you realize you should’ve fixed or added something, but you can’t? Yes, that’s true for most blogs and it’s an annoying shortcoming, at least that’s how I see it. Luckily the basic functionality can be changed to our needs, and WordPress is renowned for its flexibility.
I had seen months ago a blog (sorry, can’t remember which one), that allowed people to edit their comments for a few minutes after posting them. I thought it was a fantastic addition, but naturally I became distracted by a different task and forgot about it.
Until recently, when I re-discovered the plugin on Tim Linden’s blog. I wasn’t going to let it pass again, and I immediately looked for a way to implement it.
Turned out there are a number of WordPress plugins to do the trick, I chose a very simple one which does exactly what needed: Simple Comment Editing.
The plugin won’t help if your mind goes blank when you’re asking of it to come up with something to write, but it will help if you notice a typo or just want to add or remove something from your comment. And that I find of great help! I hope you too.
