Does Music Help Boost Your Efficiency?

I know the theme of music influence on human productivity has been touched before and I’m not actually adding any scientifically relevant information to this subject.

It’s just a matter of personal experience and I surely would love to hear your opinion on it.

Have you ever surprised yourself humming while working? Sure, that might be awkward in a formal environment like in a company, among your colleagues. But what about at home or if no one is around?

I have, and quite often. Since I’m not exactly Pl├ícido Domingo and I might actually hurt my ears during these endeavors, I’d rather listen to someone gifted singing instead. So I put on some music which fits my state of mind.

And my short term efficiency really soars then, I feel full of energy and ready to take on challenging tasks. If I don’t listen to music when I’m in this state of mind, it’s very likely to become unfocused.

On the other hand, sometimes I can’t stand hearing any noises, and music wears me out, which equally hinders my efficiency.

I tested these findings out plenty of times and the results were always the same. Music either boosted my efficiency or dragged me down. It is all about the state of mind.

    Thank U Adrian
In the past, I didn’t notice how music impacted our daily lives. I have notices that my husband said playing music while he is driving is distracting, however for me (I listen to Christian Satellite radio) is is focusing and helps me stay calm in stressful traffic situations. Thank U for bringing my thoughts to the front and allowing my sharing of them. I am interested in how other subscribers post.

  2. I appreciate that you shared your thoughts, Patsy. No distractions while driving! It can be dangerous.
And yes, I’d also like to see other opinions.
